Low Carbon Demonstration Programme
The Low Carbon Demonstration Programme (LCDP)
The Low Carbon Demonstration Programme is a Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) funded project which will help the region successfully adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change whilst increasing the regions energy security. The project delivers a key action of Rising to the Challenge – the Climate Change Action Plan for England’s Northwest. The project will run until March 2011.
The programme supports and promotes projects which demonstrate carbon savings that signify the development of a low carbon economy and exemplify best practice in the move towards a low carbon economy in England’s Northwest.
The programme will work with public, private and not for profit organisations through two primary activities:
- Providing co-ordination & support to maximise external (national and international) funding for low carbon projects in the Northwest region (see our funding page)
- The provision of grants to organisations for the demonstration of low carbon technologies and practices which exemplify best practice and innovation towards a low carbon economy – The Carbon Challenge Fund
The overall project objectives are to:
- Improve understanding of low carbon technologies and processes
- Capitalise on additional carbon savings through deployment of low carbon technologies
- Enable regional leadership on climate change
- Improve the image of the Northwest region as a low carbon region
