Land Remediation
Land Remediation
England’s Northwest is a leader in urban and rural regeneration. As a post-industrial region with extensive areas of derelict land, England’s Northwest has experienced, skilled operators with a world-class reputation for site clean-up and redevelopment.
The Northwest covers almost 14,000 square kilometres from Cheshire in the south to the northern border with Scotland. According to the Environment Agency, the region is a mix of areas of outstanding natural beauty and protected landscapes with areas of industrial dereliction – a consequence of its long industrial history. 25% of England’s derelict land and one third of its rivers of poorest quality are in the Northwest of England.
The fact that 6% of Northwest regional land mass is classed as derelict presents potential barriers to regeneration due to that land mass being contaminated from its industrial legacy; on the other hand it presents immense opportunities in terms of the environmental technologies needed to address the remediation of this post-industrial landscape.
Envirolink Northwest's Land team has identified and engaged with over 90 Northwest companies based in the region who offer world-class technologies and expertise to ensure the successful redevelopment of brownfield sites. Technologies range from in-situ and ex-situ remediation technologies, sampling analysis and monitoring, to site investigation and bespoke consultancy services.
